Vacuum kiln heated and air quenched. 300 deg tempered twice for the best combination of hardness and toughness.
The top surface and base surface are CNC milled with one milling cutter to minimize errors from the tooling change. Each shell holder was height checked by gauge, with a plus/minus half thou accuracy.
